RAM 1500 – Trims, Features, and Costs

The constantly evolving world of pickup trucks has taken another exciting turn with the upgrade of the RAM 1500. It is engineered with a host of assistance features, including partial self-driving. While this truck’s significant overhaul improves the design, certain auto enthusiasts might miss the classic pairing of the RAM truck and V8 engine. The newer model boasts advanced towing capabilities and a fuel-efficient engine, catering to a wider range of consumer needs.

Trims

The latest RAM 1500 is available in nine trim levels: Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn, Warlock, Laramie, Rebel, Limited, Longhorn, and finally, Tungsten as the top trim.

RAM has upgraded the 1500 truck with the luxurious Tungsten trim, featuring quilted material, 24-way adjustable seats with a massage feature, and a suede headliner. But at nearly $90,000, it’s pricey. It is best to consider the Laramie or Rebel trims to get lower prices. The Rebel offers off-road add-ons.

Features of the RAM 1500

The all-new gas-powered RAM 1500 retains the base V-6 3.6-liter engine. That said, buyers can now choose between the Hurricane twin-turbo inline-6 engines replacing the outgoing V-8 and turbodiesel engines. Its top trim, Tungsten, is also new. All trucks have at least an 8.4-inch touchscreen display and standard driver assist features. While these new attributes come at a cost, one may find the best clearance deals on RAM 1500 during the festive season.

Performance

The RAM 1500 offers a V-6 and twin-turbo inline-six gasoline powertrains. The base V-6 with a 48-volt hybrid system makes 305 hp and takes about 5.2 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. On the other hand, the twin-turbo inline-six, which RAM calls Hurricane, can generate either 420 or 540 hp.

That said, the RAM 1500 has light steering and lacks a road feel. But riders will find driving predictable, which is a likable feature. The truck carries its heft well and feels smooth, even on sharp turns. RAM 1500 drives with connectedness that is absent in other full-sized pickup trucks.

Technology

The Tungsten variant comes with a vertically oriented optional 14.5-inch touchscreen display. It also has a passenger entertainment system with a filter, so it does not distract the driver. While the screen is decently sized, the software feels archaic with its confusing menu structure. Besides, many users complain that input is slow. This can be annoying as some vehicle attributes, such as seat ventilation or heating, are adjustable exclusively via the screen.

Surprisingly, with the newest 1500 truck, RAM has introduced a hands-free driver assist system. It works well and rarely requires drivers to return their hands to the wheel. The other driver assist features are equally good, centering the truck in the lane and slowing or accelerating smoothly.

Towing and storage

RAM 1500 guarantees a roomy cabin. In the models not equipped with a bench, there lies a large storage bin amidst the front seats. In addition, the truck has a floating center portion with a cup holder. The riders can seamlessly move this island forward or backward to make more space for oversized items. Sliding back offers adequate room to stack a sizable purse or bag.

The back seat is foldable and has a small cargo area. But that space is not lockable, making the stored items unsafe. Moreover, the truck does not have a flat floor like other pickups. The truck’s maximum payload capacity is 2300 pounds, and its maximum towing capacity is 11,580 pounds.

RAM 1500’s powertrains are effortless at towing and have adequate power to move even larger trailers effortlessly. The truck’s rear end may feel less stable due to its traditional leaf-spring suspension.

Price

The base trim of the RAM 1500, Tradesman, starts at $42,270 and goes up to $89,070 for its top Tungsten trim. This sticker price can be massively discounted during the RAM 1500 clearance deals.

Benefits of buying RAM 1500 during clearance sales

Shopping for this truck on clearance deals can provide several benefits.

  • Cost savings: Clearance deals offer significant discounts, helping one save money on a high-quality RAM 1500 model.
  • End-of-model-year sales: Clearance sales coincide with end-of-model-year sales. So, the probability of getting a desired truck at a bargain is high.
  • Added incentives: Dealers wish to clear their inventories at the year’s end. So, they add incentives like extended warranties or low-interest financing.

The RAM 1500 offers a smooth, comfortable ride and comes with one of the most premium cabins in its class. Additionally, its standard driver-assist features make it one of the best full-size pickup trucks. Though many rivals have a greater towing capability, the RAM 1500 still has enough utility. One can visit RAM dealerships nearby or keep an eye on the brand’s website to check for clearance sales on RAM 1500 to get this impressive pickup truck at a bargain.
