5 Key Features of the Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a popular electric SUV known for its retro-themed hatchback-like design. Its roomy interiors and comfortable seating add to its charm. Additionally, the SUV can offer a fun and relaxing driving experience, especially on long trips, because of its driver-assistive technology and quick-charging capability. If considering bringing home this EV, then exploring its models, key features, and price can help one make an informed buying decision.

1. Performance

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 stands out as a user-friendly EV with several notable features. The vehicle boasts smooth and responsive acceleration, which enables it to go from 0-60 mph in merely 4.7 seconds. The SUV is also equipped to take on various road and weather conditions, thanks to its reliable traction control. The SUV can come equipped with a dual electric motor setup and an all-wheel drive (AWD) system or a rear-wheel drivetrain. Depending on the trim, the engine can generate 225 to 325 horsepower. The EV also offers decent mileage, between 260 to 303 miles, depending on the configuration one chooses, i.e., rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The Ioniq 5 also has a smooth brake switch and handling, making it easy to make turns with the EV. These features make the SUV worth considering if looking for a daily commute vehicle.

2. Battery life and charging

The EV’s dual motor can easily go over 200 miles on a full charge. As for charging, Hyundai claims the larger battery can go from 10 to 80% in nearly 18 minutes and add 68 miles to the range in five minutes at a DC fast-charging station.

3. Interiors

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 offers abundant room in both rows. Its rear seat backrest reclines well, allowing passengers to stretch and get comfortable on long drives. The SUV also comes with an eight-way power driver seat and a six-way manual adjustable passenger seat, contributing to the overall convenience. The front seats are also ventilated across trims. A downside here is the thick rear roof pillars, which become major blind spots for drivers. That said, installing a surround-view camera can help overcome this issue.

For storage, the SUV falls a bit short compared to other EVs in the segment. It offers 27.2 cubic feet of space with the rear seats up and 59.3 cu ft with the rear seats folded down. That said, one can find small storage spaces and cubbies designed to hold phones, wallets, bottles, and other tiny belongings.

In terms of infotainment, each Hyundai Ioniq 5 model comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The SUV also offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, and two rear USB charging ports to keep occupants entertained on road trips.

4. Safety

The electric SUV does not compromise on technology. A highlight here is its Highway Driving Assist feature, which offers lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control to help reduce driving fatigue and avoid collisions. The EV comes with a compatible Hyundai Blue Link app, which lets one control different car functions remotely. For instance, one can turn on the air conditioning or heater before getting into the car, look up charging stations, and set charge time limits using the app. Additionally, the Ioniq 5 has all the modern amenities one expects in an automobile, like an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, adaptive cruise control, power-operated liftgate, power-operated rear child safety locks, and front and rear parking sensors. A blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic warning and a forward collision warning with automatic braking are also standard features across Ioniq 5 trims.

5. Trims and price

The Hyundai Ioniq EV comes in four trims—SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, and Limited. The base trim comes at a starting price of $43,195. The lineup also includes a high-end variant called Disney100 Platinum Edition, which is priced at $60,795. The SEL trim, the mid-range EV in this lineup, sells for around $50,000. The top trim, Limited, is priced at $54,895. It adds a few driver aids like an automated parking system and a 360-degree camera system. To choose the best trim, one should compare multiple variants and then review the Hyundai Ioniq 5 pricing list to find an option that aligns with the set budget and other preferences.

If considering buying the SUV, one can visit their nearest Hyundai dealership and book a test drive. This can help one assess the handling and overall ease of driving the vehicle. One can also ask the dealership for a detailed price and feature list before deciding on a Hyundai Ioniq 5 trim.
